Submission Guidelines

tnr does not accept any electronic submissions.

Submitting Periods

• January 2 – June 30th for fiction, non-fiction, and poetry
• September 1 – October 31st for fiction and non-fiction only

How to Submit

Current subscribers:
Send ms with SASE or IRC and $14.75 entry fee ($18.00 foreign). Your subscription will be extended or you will receive a recent issue or tnr coffee mug..

All Others:
Send ms with SASE or IRC and $17.50 entry ($22.00 foreign). You will receive one recent issue.

Please Note:
All poetry and fiction submissions to tnr are tied to our awards program. Mss without accompanying entry fee will be returned unread, only if SASE or IRC is provided.

Fiction:
Four pages or more, only one manuscript per submission, please. Four pages or less, two submissions, please. We are looking for writing that has something to say, says it with style or grace, and speaks in an individual voice. No pornographic material, please.

Poetry:
Three to six one-page poems; two to four two-page poems; only one long poem per submission. We have an eclectic taste in poetry, from street poems to traditional poems and erotic poems (no pornographic themes). Experimental, language poems, haiku, and visual poetry are long shots here, but not impossible. Submit as often as you like, but each submission requires an entry fee.
